The outreach was conducted in Ogba community market in Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria on the 19th of January 2025 with over 70 individuals benefitting from the initiative. A special visit was made to the Odionwere of the Ogba Palace, where medical tests were conducted for him and his cabinet members.

The success of the outreach was made possible by a dedicated team, which included:

This event was a direct result of the collaborative partnerships among these organizations, who came together to address the pressing healthcare needs of the community.

Demographics of Beneficiaries

The outreach catered to a diverse group of participants, including men, women, and youths. However, the majority of beneficiaries were elderly women, reflecting the critical healthcare challenges within this demographic.

Medical Conditions Addressed

Several health conditions were identified and managed during the outreach, including:

  • Severe Cases:
    • Very high blood pressure (BP)
    • Elevated blood sugar levels
  • Other Cases:
    • Low blood sugar levels
    • Arthritis
    • Malaria
    • General pain complaints (managed with Panadol Extra)
    • Worm infestation (treated with deworming medication)

Medications Provided

A wide range of medications were distributed during the outreach to address the identified conditions. These included:

  1. Blood pressure and sugar-related drugs.
  2. Calcium supplements for low sugar cases.
  3. Arthritis and pain management medications, including Panadol Extra.

Stock Status

Thanks to the generous support and partnerships, we procured a large stock of medications. While a portion of these was utilized during the outreach, we still have leftover medications, including blood pressure and sugar-related drugs. These will be repurposed for our next medical outreach, scheduled for the third week of March 2025 at Ugbor Market.
